Charles E. Roberts

Mr. Roberts was the founder of Community Resource Consultants,(CRCI), a private social work practice specializing in catastrophic medical case management, vocational rehabilitation, substance abuse treatment, domestic violence, as well as mental health evaluation and individual counseling, group therapy and task groups.

Mr. Roberts was licensed in the State of Michigan as a Certified Social Worker and, previously, as a Nursing Home Administrator. He was also a Certified Case Manager by NASW. 

Charles received his Bachelor of Art’s degree from Wayne State University and his Master’s in Social Work from the University of Iowa, respectively. He has also received specialized training from the University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, Drake University, Detroit College of Law, Eastern Michigan University, also the Michigan Office of Substance Abuse Services, the Iowa Department of Human Services. He has also kept current by attending many courses, in-services, workshops and seminars.

Prior to embarking upon a career in social work, Mr. Roberts worked for 15 years in the insurance industry. Mr. Roberts has long experience in claims administration, risk management, loss prevention and marketing. He also has strong vocational rehabilitation, substance abuse, crisis intervention skills and therapy skills developed while working in the insurance industry, social work agencies, the Iowa Correctional System, public welfare, and private practice. Mr. Roberts has been directly involved with catastrophically injured survivors since 1986 and handled his first TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) case in 1969 as a claims representative.  In addition to catastrophic injury medical case management services, he developed the Social Work program for a TBI Nursing Home. He has worked as a liaison between community referral agencies and a TBI treatment team as well as a Consulting Program Coordinator for two agencies’

He has also developed and presented a paper and delivered many talks on the topic of “How to be Your Own Case Manager” as well as presentations on behavior management, substance abuse and social and family dynamics in TBI. Mr. Roberts has been a featured speaker at several conventions, workshops and seminars on a wide variety of topics’. Mr. Roberts is a co-founder and former chairperson of the Detroit Chapter of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan. He has served as State Secretary of BIAM and served on the BIAM, the state board. He was active in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), as well as many other professional, social and political organizations.
